Open Post: What's happening in your world?

Hey you guys!

Welcome to Open Post – the little corner of Mamamia where we sit back and let the readers take over the joint. Whatever’s been going on with you, we want to hear about it.

I’ll kick things off by giving a massive CONGRATULATIONS to my boss-lady and mentor Mia Freedman, who last night took out the Women in Media Mentor of the Year Award.

The Women in Media Awards recognises exceptional women who are kicking arse in the media industry, and as one of her mentees, I think I can say without a shred of bias that Mia Freedman kicks the ultimate amount of arse in the mentor department.

Not only has she given me a career that has changed my life, she’s also the first person I call when I’m drunk and find something hilarious on the Internet. She truly is a remarkable leader, and the many women who are lucky enough to work with her and learn from her will tell you that they are better journalists/writers/humans because of it.

Unfortunately, Mia caught an epic stomach bug off one of her adorable children and couldn’t be at the ceremony last night to collect her much deserved prize, so I accepted the trophy on her behalf.

And I know I’m not often one for heartfelt sincerity, but to have the chance to speak on behalf of my mentor as she was being celebrated for her brilliance?  It was truly was one of the proudest moments of my life:

BRAVO MIA!!

Also, while half the editorial team were at the Women in Media Awards, the other half were at a trampolining lesson at a trampoline park called Sky Zone (yes, there is actually such a thing as a trampoline park and it is called Sky Zone).

See if you can tell who went to which event:

So that’s it from me! What’s going on with you??

(Oh PS! THE BACHELOR STARTS TONIGHT 7:30pm ON TEN. Read my interview with this year’s muscles with a head right here, and make sure you join the Mamamia team for our Twitter Bachelor Party at the hashtag #MMBachParty. Woop woop!)

WIDOW GIVES BIRTH TO NATURAL TRIPLETS
We are currently crowd funding for a Brisbane family who lost their Dad to a heart attack, and have premature triplets in special care in Brisbane. The mother is doing it tough, caring for the three babies and their older siblings and desperately needs a car to transport all six children to essential a appointments. We are crowd funding on http://www.gofundme.com/bssquc. Any donation of $5.00 counts toward providing essential resources for this family. If you have had one baby imagine how tough this mum is doing with three on her own.
