Open Post: Come and tell us what's happening in your world.

Hi guys!

Welcome to another episode of Mamamia’s Open Post – It’s a tradition that started about four of five years ago and something we’ve continued on every Wednesday since.  If you’ve never been here before, Open Post is the Mamamia community notice board; it’s the place where we come together, sing Kumbya and talk about what’s happening in our lives.

I’ll go first.

On my mind: JAPAN.

I spent part of last week there with Jetstar as part of a promotional tour for their inaugural flight from Melbourne to Tokyo. And it was just UNREAL. For four days, we toured Tokyo and a small city on the island of Shikoku called Mastuyama. We ate sashimi (and some eel), visited Buddhist temples and took our shoes on and off approximately 2963 times.

Back in 2007, I spent six months in Japan pretending to study (but really just singing karaoke and drinking Asahis) and it was just so nice to be back. I’ve had a happy smile on my face all of this week and will be writing a proper post about Japan sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Other things on my mind. Boots (I’ve somehow managed to buy the same boots in three different colours recently), The Voice (I wasn’t going to watch it this season but I’m already addicted) and whether Australia is going to step in and do something to help the missing Nigerian school girls. C’mon already.

Now it’s your turn. What’s happening in your world?

I'm tired. I've been given a whole bunch of new clients and I may as well be working full time. This morning the kids were in before schoolcare at 7am. I took this job because it offered some flexibility with hours but now I'm getting all these new clients and because I'm new I don't feel like I can say no. Anyway that's my whinge. I am grateful, don't get me wrong. I realise there's plenty of people on here who are struggling to find a job, but lets just say I'll be happy for the weekend to arrive. By the way @mybloggableday:disqus and Alchemy, I'm not going to be able to put my pic up for our bakeoff until Wednesday's OMM. I was supposed to put on a birthday dinner for my sister-in-law tonight but I've only just got home from work. I was supposed to be spending the day cooking. So I apologise. I'm going to make it for her next week instead. Don't let me stuff you two up if that doesn't work for you. I can just be a belated entrant. Sorry for the late notice :( .

Hey everyone.
I just wanted to let you know that I will be challenging my 14 day notice to vacate. After the 14 days, my real estate has to take me to VCAT where I will challenge the order. I was advised this from Consumer Affairs. I should have a good case as I have never paid rent even a day late. The house is in great condition, the yard looks better than when we moved in (I built a few veggie patches) and from previous experience, I find VCAT to be very understanding and extremely fair. So fingers crossed it all works out.
Just a little stressed that I won't be able to find someone fast enough to move into the spare room as I can't afford to cover my now ex-housemates rent.
At least though I can calm down a bit and I do have more time. So not quite homeless yet...yay!
Thanks again for all your advice and your kind words and thoughts. It means a lot xxx

Really happy to hear that you'll be challenging and I so hope that it has a positive outcome for you. Well done for pulling it all together and getting through!

Just a thought, and feel free to tell me to sod off, but surely if your ex housemate has left you in the lurch, they should have left say, I don't know 2 to 4 weeks rent? Only seems fair. Anyway, well done and good luck finding a housemate (hopefully one who makes you tea and brings you chocolate, they're keepers those ones!)

Thanks Jemily87 ;)
He has paid his share up until the 20th May, so I am cool until then. I have two weeks to try and get a housemate. The house is quite expensive which is a slight drama. Anyway, at least I can relax a bit. xxx
