Open Post. Come tell us what's happening in your world.

Hello everybody! Welcome to Open Post, the section of Mamamia where anybody can say whatever’s on their mind.

I’ll kick things off:

This week, I discovered yet another practical life skill I’m lacking. My younger sister Tayla and I have to go to the tip and we both have zero idea of how to go to the tip. And since I’m the older and ‘more responsible’ one, I think she expects me to take care of this situation.

But I’ve discovered that going to the tip is one of those things that you think about in the abstract but never actually do. I may or may not have just thought you drive up to a big mountain of rubbish somewhere and just… add your stuff to the pile.

I went on our local tip’s website, which just left me more confused. For example: They said all the rubbish had to be ‘covered’. Waaah? And also, they don’t mention how you pay. Do you pay? I’m sure you do, but by weight? Colour? Item? They also said no ‘household’ rubbish is allowed. But all this rubbish comes from my house so… I tried to find some kind of ‘FAQ’ section on the website but I couldn’t find one. All they had was a number to call. To talk to a person. What is this? 1995?!? I don’t want to be talking to a person on the phone!

Ugh. My brain hurts. I think it will just be easier for us to let the junk overcome us, in some kind of glorious Grey Gardens-esq/World’s Worst Hoarders situation. So that’s what’s going on with me.

What’s happening with you guys?

I like going to the tip. Turn up, open the gates on the ute, flick the hydraulics to "Raise", wait 30 seconds, hydraulics to "Lower", drive away SLOWLY.

Pay :(.

That's what I enjoy the most -- everybody else looking at me with a mixture of envy and hatred as I leave, while they're still heaving crap into the pit by hand..

How many sheds have you got Fredd?
I'm guessing more than two. My hubbie has a hydraulic trailer.....and 4 sheds, which apparently are not enough.

Two at home, plus one at my camping block. It's definitely not enough, as I have stuff stashed at mates' places. Then again, I've got some of their stuff here (whoever last needed it, stores it), so it probably works out about even.
