There is no companion quite like a good book. There is also nothing more irritating than finishing a book and having no one to discuss it with.
Enter: book clubs. Digital style.
Digital book clubs are fast gaining traction. And they are brilliant. Mostly because you don’t have to get out of bed and you can have your cheese platter all to yourself.
Celebrities have really spearheaded the movement of online book communities – notably Reese Witherspoon, who has one aptly named Reese’s Book Club.
So how does it work? At the start of every month, the actor and producer announces her book pick, always one with a woman at the centre. On her Facebook and Instagram, which together has millions of followers, Witherspoon posts question prompts for followers to discuss in the comments section.
Side note… If all the girls in the world could read, it would look like this. Post continues below.
Oprah also has one via Oprah’s Book Club which sees readers share their thoughts on the chosen book via the hashtag #ReadWithUs.
The perfect way to gain inspiration for your next read, the proliferation of book-worm Instagram communities has become the ultimate place to share book recommendations and reviews with like-minded people.
On Instagram, #bookstagram has been used nearly 40 million times and #AussieReader has almost 50,000 posts.
So, here are just six other Instagram accounts you can follow for great book recommendations and a place to discuss them.
