I agree. Men are men, to be men. Women are women, to be women. We shouldn't expect men to be women, or vice versa. I enjoyed the song, and had a good laugh, but I do think it paints a negative picture of the magnificence of childbirth - yes, it hurts, but put on your big girl pants and deal with it!! I have had two children, and definitely want more. Parenthood is an amazing, wonderful, rewarding responsibility, and I wouldn't change any of it for quids. I love being a women, with all of it's benefits and challenges, and I love my husband for the man he is. I think we should embrace what we are, man or woman, and stop trying to change/rearrange the design.

And now gigdiary is preaching, oh bugger, but,yes,it is relevant, a Dad shouldn't have to poo a watermelon to be a Dad. A Dad should be able to be a Dad by just being a man.This generation of young men not knowing their fathers is unnecessary. We don't need this folk singer singing about childbirth, funny though she is. Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell would never have stooped that low. They sang about issues, issues that could be changed. And many of those issues were changed. They weren't singing about 'oh, dear, women have babies, and men don't'. 'It sure hurts to have a baby, why don't men poo a watermelon just so I feel better about it.' Women, I say, challenge the men in your life to be men, not surogate women. Men are men. They are not girls.
