Noni Hazlehurst explains her tears during Waleed Aly's Logies speech.

After an historic induction into the Logies Hall of Fame on Sunday night, actress and legend of Playschool, Noni Hazlehurst has appeared on The Project to explain her emotional tears throughout Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly’s speech.

“Noni, it was a great night here for my colleagues here on the Project,” panelist Steve Price said.

“Waleed made a very strong speech, you seemed quite affected and moved by that speech when you were listening to it,” he continued before asking the actress where her feelings came from.

"Well, because Waleed's made such a powerful contribution to discourse in Australia," the Monkey Grip actress said simply before adding, "and to changing people's minds and making people think and feel and listen, and I have the utmost respect for him, and think it's a real turning point."

Pausing for a moment, Hazlehurst then continued, "as I said last night, I look forward to the day where it doesn't matter who wins, it's just the best. And I think he's [Aly] a wonderful example of that."

Earlier in the interview, the 62-year-old told the panel that she broke ranks from the rest of the celebrity pack and skipped the after parties to get back to Sydney for work commitments, and admitted that she "actually couldn't hear" the retrospective career reel that been playing before she accepted her Hall of Fame induction.

"I would have been a mess, I think, if I'd actually heard it all," she admitted.

The induction, Aly said, was one that Hazlehurst "thoroughly, thoroughly" deserves, and was "well overdue."

We couldn't agree more.

Here's to you Noni Hazlehurst, you're the real MVP of the 2016 Logies.
