News: The Coke video everyone is talking about

A new ad from Coca-Cola has drawn criticism from consumer advocates and obesity experts even though it encourages people to fight obesity together. Critics have said that the company is just doing damage control and trying to pretend they are part of the solution rather than the problem.

Coca-Cola’s Stuart Kronauge has said “Obesity is complex, and it requires partnership and collaboration to help solve it. We have an important role to play in the effort to find solutions that work for everybody.”

Watch the video below and decide for yourself.

Coke is trying. They do have a lot of low calorie options, and that is great! Well done, Coca-cola!

I wish people would stop bashing the companies that really are trying to make a difference (even if they are only doing it for the money, at least they're doing it!). I get sick of people bashing McDonalds. I'm sure you've all seen those memes with the fat kid "health warnings" on Big Mac boxes. I'm on a calorie and portion controlled diet, and I like to eat out. McDonalds is a great place for me to eat out, because they do have healthier options.

Companies like Coke and McDonalds don't make people fat. Their products might *enable* people to get fat, but it's your choice to misuse the products. There is the 600ml Coke, the 600ml Diet Coke and the bottle of water in the fridge. One of them (if used too often and not compensated for by exercise or lowering calories elsewhere) will contribute to you getting fat. You make the choice. We need to stop blaming companies and take responsibility for our own actions and choices - especially the companies that ARE working to provide better choices!

Yes, well welfare for the rich is a bit wasteful and that was one of Howard's legacies. Baby bonus for people who are not financially stretched and on higher incomes, disability pensions for those who have wealthy parents, a 30% private health insurance rebate for those who can afford private health insurance without it, salary sacrificing for those who are on higher incomes so they don't pay tax on that portion (like that's a real sacrifice LOL). Shouldn't welfare and rebates go to those who need it most? Well I guess the wealthy are voters and as the Liberal Party he appeals the wealthier sector it's a vote buyer without question. Perhaps if he dished out more benefits to them he would have stayed in power longer. They can't really get enough and will never have enough.

Welfare for the rich? What rubbish, it's a case of not taxing the lives out of them. The government doesn't give me welfare, and never has. All they do is return some of my tax to me. It's valid and deserved by those who work hard and earn their money.

What?! Welfare for the rich?? As a work at home mum (a legitimate office job I can operate from home, not making crochet) with a 3 year old and 1 year old and a husband who works full time I get ZERO from our government. I don't even get any rebate for the 3 hours of creche I use each week so I can actually get some work done without interruption. We aren't by any means "rich". We don't lead a luxurious lifestyle. We have a mortgage, have to be smart with our money and we budget. The same as everyone else. I get the feeling that you have been watching too many "current affairs" type shows, rather than living in reality.

Anonymous, if you receive no Child Care Benefit, Family Tax Benefit A nor Family Tax Benefit B for your family of 2 children then your family income is upwards of $150,000. (The income tests for these are $142K, $112K and $150K respectively.)

In that case, I'd suggest that in many peoples' estimation, you do in fact meet the definition of "rich" or even "very rich" and that's the reason why you don't receive any welfare. You've kind of proved your own point - you're rich, therefore you're not entitled to it. No?
