The most hilarious gay marriage speech you'll ever watch.

In case you missed this when we posted it last week… this video is now going SERIOUSLY viral.

New Zealand MP Maurice Williamson made this speech in parliament when same-sex marriage was legalised – and it’s absolutely hilarious.

In the speech, Williamson shows both humour and candour – joking about claims that the drought in New Zealand was caused by the law to recognise marriage between gay couples.

He said that it was, in fact, pouring with rain in his electorate, and there was an “‘enormous big, gay rainbow” over his electorate, which “had to be a sign.”

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key also jokingly told the news site that he was thinking of making Williamson his speech-writer after his efforts, saying, “He is very funny and there is always a serious message in there … He is ferociously bright.”

Do you wish Australian politicians would give more speeches like this?

That was brilliant. I want to move to NZ and I'm not gay! I love the simplicity of his speech - present the facts, acknowledge the critics and expose the nonsense - done. Best of all no heckling from the opposition that I could hear. Yes I would be so proud if I was in his electorate. Instead I have Peter Slipper as my federal member......
