The Nanny cast had a mini reunion and it's Fran-tastic.

Key cast members of hit 90s sitcom The Nanny have reunited at a party for Renée Taylor’s 83rd birthday. Charles Shaughnessy (who played Maxwell Sheffield), Fran Drescher (who played Fran Fine) and Renée Taylor (who played Sylvia Fine) posed in a series of Facebook photos.

They show that for Fran and Maxwell, there really was a happy ending. ‘An evening with the mother-in-law! Happy Birthday Renee!’ one post reads.

The much loved series ran for six years, earning it an Emmy and a Rose d’Or award.

The iconic show may be recognisable in its plot and cast but there are a lot of secrets hidden in that borderline beehive hair.

According to IMDB, the character played by Renée Taylor, Sylvia Fine, was billed as a guest star so the network wouldn’t be involved with her casting. Taylor remained a guest star for the whole series despite appearing in almost 100 episodes.

It was also reported the dog of Lauren Lane’s character, CC Babcock, was actually Fran Fine’s dog in real life.

Speaking of CC, IMDB also reported that when actress Lauren Lane (C.C Babcock) had to take a leave of absence in order to give birth, a story line was created that sent her to a sanitarium.

If you’re not familiar, a sanitarium is an American term for a hospital that treats patients with long-term illnesses.

The reunion shots come across as both candid and candy-sweet in the ratio of hugs-to-no-hugs and smiles to no-smiles.

According to one of the photo’s captions, the event was held at Fran Drescher’s home.

I’d like a bit of notice next time Fran hosts a party, I feel as though she’d be interested in my line of cosmetics.

Relive those nineties feels and see how much you remember of that original song…

I remember when CC was pregnant on the show and they tried to 'hide' it (not really). I thought it was so funny her holding giant posters and bags etc in front of her belly.
This was a great show!

I loved CC, I'm pretty sure at one point they had her holding a big poster for a play with the title 'Baby' in front of her very obvious baby belly!

I still love The Nanny, every now and then there will be re-runs on Foxtel, and I still get a giggle out of them.
