Wanted: Someone to tattoo their entire back for an advertising campaign.

Advertising has reached new levels of intrusive.

Everywhere we go, we see brand names shoved in our faces. Billboards, clothing, television.

And now, skin.

An Australian publisher has chosen back skin to advertise the release of the much awaited next instalment of the Millennium series, The Girl In The Spider’s Web.

Back skin. As in, the skin on your back.

The advertising company are looking for a blank skin space for a ‘national tatvertising campaign‘ (yes, tatvertising is real, people). There is very little criteria, other than being able to “handle it, just like Lisbeth Salander” (the main character in the book, who is covered in tattoos) and being able to attend a live casting in Sydney.

Read more: Getting a tattoo? Don’t screw it up like these idiots.

Hopefully, the winner will ‘get’ to tatvertise the book for the REST OF THEIR LIFE. They’ll win two four-hour sessions of full-back tattooing, and become the face (well, back) of a national ad campaign.

At least it might be a cooler advert than tatvertising for Sorbent or Ajax or something.

Though the author of the series Steig Larsson died of a heart attack before The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the first book in the series) became world famous, author David Lagercrantz has written the fourth book based on an outline Larsson wrote before he died. To avoid any media leaks, the book has been under major security, and is only written and edited on computers that are not connected to the internet.

No pressure, Lagercrantz.

The book will be out on August 27th, tatts and all.
