Meghan Markle's on-screen fiancé had a hilarious response to her engagement.

Upon hearing the news Prince Harry put a ring on it and asked Meghan Markle to marry him on Monday night, it took Twitter precisely two nano seconds to explode with happiness.

Then came the gifs…

… SO MANY GIFS.

But among the MILLIONS of tweets about the royal wedding set to take place in spring 2018, one particular tweet stood out from the rest.

Enter: Patrick J. Adams, who you might know as Mike Ross, a.k.a Markle’s fiance on Suits.

The actor and long-time friend of Markle’s took to the internet with peak banter to share his reaction to his on-screen partner’s engagement. And it’s gold.

“She said she was just going to get some milk…” Adams tweeted on Tuesday, proving his banter with his former work wife is still going strong.

But on a serious note, he also had some bloody sweet things to say to the happy couple, along with some advice for the future Mr Markle from someone who kind of but not really knows what it’s like to be ‘married’ to her.

“Playing Meghan’s television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious,” he wrote.

“Meghan, so happy for you, friend. Much love.”

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be in the corner drowning in a puddle of our own tears re-watching Suits from the beginning. See you there.

I can't see a reason why Trump would be invited at all. Harry isn't a future monarch, so the guest list is likely to be made up of friends and family, along with representatives from other royal houses. The US isn't a Commonwealth country, so no need to invite on that front either. The Obamas could make the cut if Harry's formed a personal relationship through the Invictus games.

Maybe they'd get an invite because Meghan is American? I checked to see if the President was invited to Prince Andrew's wedding (also a second son), and Nancy Reagan attended - perhaps Melania will go but no Donald? Oh well, if he doesn't get invited we can look forward to the "I didn't want to go to the stupid wedding anyway" tweet!
