Plaudits to PM Abbott. A couple of pics have surfaced of him out there doing his bit to help fight the bushfires in NSW. I'll be willing to bet that his efforts won't get a lot of coverage. Remember the days when you'd only see a PM doing something if it guaranteed mass media coverage ?
Bad, bad Clemetine Ford for tweeting that PM Abbott can "go suck a cheetah's dick". The lady is today's poster child for class, or should I say crass ?

I would rather see our Prime Minister address the country and not hide from talking about serious issues. To me, his firefighting efforts do seem like a media stunt. How about he show some leadership and tell us what he is going to do about the fires and the aftermath. I fear he is not very good at impromptu talks - only photo-ops and talking to people one on one. That is a useful skill to have but it is more important to be able to talk to the masses when you are a leader in my opinion.

TA's actually been an active member of the RFS for 13 years - being fully qualified in specialist breathing apparatus as well as a chainsaw operator and a tanker driver -, long time for a "media stunt"

He was not the prime minister then. New job. Different responsibilties.

Sorry Kate, if it was my house being threatened by fire, i would be so grateful to have TA, along with all those other firefighters, protect it. A true leader leads by example and there aren't any photo ops in this for him...those pics released on the news last night are not from these current fires. You don't think Julia Gillard's road train during the floods was a "photo op"?

That story on Rebecca Sedwick is horrifying. I have a nine year old daughter who is already very sensitive and worries way too much about what people think about her.
She has regular counselling through the school which have a very very strong anti bullying stance and i have inspirational quotes and up lifting messages randomly placed around her room and the house to help her to remember how awesome she is. Because she really is, but this story really does scare me.
She is not allowed on social media but I wont be able to keep her away for ever, I will be quite strict on who her online friends will be etc and monitor as best i can with every way possible. I think she is lucky to have the school environment she has, but high school will be so much bigger and I just hope with all my being she will be ok.
