Melbourne man accused of "kidnapping" his 23-year-old pregnant ex-girlfriend.

A Melbourne man who has been accused of kidnapping his pregnant ex-girlfriend and knocking her to the floor has been granted bail.

Nine News reports Christopher Josevski, 24, had an argument with his 23-year-old former girlfriend at the Derrimut outlet, South Wharf, last Thursday.

Police reportedly told the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court that Mr Josevski punched the woman, and proceeded to drag her by the car to his car. She was then taken to the man’s home in Gordon, over an hour away near Ballarat.

Senior Constable Dominic Musolino told the court “clumps of the victim’s hair still in [Josevski’s] hand,” when authorities arrived at the scene.

He was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, possessing a firearm, drug possession and dealing with property proceeds of crime, but Nine News reports he was released on bail on Tuesday morning after his mother paid $5000 for his release.

While the man’s charges were described by the Magistrate as “serious”, bail was given because the accused has “very few prior convictions and had family support”. It was a decision Senior Constable Musolino opposed, explaining the pregnant victim is “extremely fearful”.

When the publication’s reporter tried to interview Mr Josevski after his appearance in court, he allegedly “spat at her”.

He will be required to report to Keilor Downs Police Station three times per week.

He assaulted and kidnapped a pregnant woman, also faces drug and weapons charges, and this judge gave him bail, are you FREAKIN' KIDDING ME? I don't give a rats backside that he has 'very few' prior convictions, this offending alone should be enough to have him remanded. And the family support hasn't stopped him offending in the past, why would it stop him again? Have these judges learned NOTHING? This is just so damn frustrating, all the 'awareness' about domestic violence is pointless if the judges are just letting these guys get away with it. I hope this poor lady is somewhere safe.

I hope this young pregnant woman is helped to hide her away and keep her and her unborn baby safe, until he is locked away. She needs to feel safe. I hope she gets all the love and support she needs. My heart is with you.
