A man has been booted off a plane for his shocking remarks to a flight attendant.

You’re sat next to a total stranger on an aeroplane when he makes a remark that makes you uncomfortable.

Do you say something or ignore it?

An American airline is being applauded for taking swift action over a man who sexually harrassed a flight attendant during a pre-takeoff safety demonstration.

Passenger Amber Nelson recounted the event on Facebook in a post which has quickly gone viral, shared almost 5000 times.

“Today I had an experience that drove home so powerfully the way it feels to be a woman in the world today,” she began.

As a female flight attendant was demonstrating how to use a life vest, a man in the row behind Nelson called out “ooh, sexy!”

“He was in a middle seat with a woman on either side of him – they were clearly uncomfortable. Just in front of him, the two women in my row and I exchanged uncomfortable glances,” she wrote.

“Every woman I know has been through this kind of degrading experience. We were trapped on a plane with a guy who clearly disrespected women and saw us as his own personal entertainment.”

As the women looked on at each other trying to work out what to do and whether they should say something to the offender, the flight attendant took action.

"Before we could do more than glare in his direction, the flight attendant removed her vest, purposely walked up to him and said, 'You need to be respectful,' and started to walk back to her task. He said, 'C'mon, I'm just playing with you!'," she wrote.

A few tense minutes later and a male airline staffer boarded the plane and asked the man to gather his belongings and exit the plane as he protested "I didn't do anything wrong! I didn't do anything wrong!"

"It was everything we could do to keep from applauding as he was led away," Nelson wrote.

"I felt honored as a patron of the airline - and as a woman - because Alaska Airlines supported their staff and those of us on board who were demeaned by another passenger's juvenile and exceedingly disrespectful behavior. Thank you for taking this seriously."

While plenty took to Nelson's post to complain of her "exaggerated feminist view" (puh-lease, are we still on this?) this is an action that definitely deserves applause.

In a week where Donald Trump's offensive and inappropriate sexual comments have dominated headlines and women are sharing their own experiences of sexual harrasment in their thousands, it's a shining light that reinforces that these kind of remarks, however "seemingly innocent" are not ok.

They won't be tolerated - or ignored - any more.

Bravo!!! Its about damn time people learn these types of remarks should never be tolerated. Its not sexy or flirtatious. Its harassment period. I challenge men to think; what would they think of other men saying these things to their daughters, sisters, mothers? Would it be ok? If it isnt then you shouldnt be saying it either.
