Two 40-Year-Old Eggs Walk Into A Bar.

It’s the topic that’s dominating home pages across the country… should you have babies in your 40s? Are women unnecessarily living in fertility fear or do we need to have real, honest conversations about aged eggs? Plus, Prince George started school but isn’t allowed to have a best friend. Cruel, or kind? And the new iPhone is about to be released, but is it worth your dollars or should we all need to stop queuing up around the block for every update?

I listened to this podcast last night. I became a mum for the first time at 38, after 4 years of trying. In the end we needed medical intervention to help us. We have 1 child (our miracle baby) and we had several more attempts to get pregnant again, giving up in my early forties. The facts are inescapable, that your fertility rapidly declines in your forties. The idea that IVF is a fall back position is a dangerous message to promote, as is suggesting that it's not hard to get pregnant over 40. Just be realistic and listen to medical advice. Contrary to what Holly stated, my experience of IVF clinics is that they don't make promises that they can't keep. Sure, the process isn't cheap but for some, like me, there was no alternative. In the end, having a child, by any means, is a miracle.
