Open Post: How's your week going?

Hi lovely readers!

Welcome to the Mamamia Open Post. If you’re new here, this is the place where we all come together and share stories of how our week is going.

I’ll get us started by introducing myself – my name is Brydie and I am an intern here at Mamamia.

All that’s been on my mind this week is the heat. I was in the Blue Mountains and was lucky enough to have an air conditioner and pool at my disposal. In the afternoon as I sat by the pool, a Snapchat filter informed me it was 46 degrees – enough to melt the ice in my waterbottle in seconds!

Temperatures like these make me excited to go back to my hometown on the NSW Mid North Coast next week – a beautiful little coastal town called South West Rocks – where my parents live a mere minutes walk from the beach.

Getting to a beach from where I live now in Sydney’s Inner West is not nearly as easy. Living away from home for nearly a year now, the beach and its glorious closeness, (and of course my fabulous family) are some of the things I miss the most.

Despite the time and effort it takes to get to Sydney’s beaches from my new home, I have fallen in love with some. My favourites are Manly (not just because it’s where my boyfriend lives!), Coogee and Maroubra.

My sister Nina took this panorama at South West Rocks’ Little Bay

I think I’ll spend the rest of the week daydreaming about cool pristine water and warm soft sand. I’ll definitely be going to as many beaches as I can on my days off to escape.

Enough about what I’m thinking – what will you be daydreaming of and getting up to this week?

I GOT THE JOB! it's nothing special but it means I can finally leave my current job as a kitchen hand. It's a five minute walk from my house as opposed to an hours bus ride so I'm pretty happy I was successful!

The guy I've been talking to online wants to meet up for a coffee and while he's sweet enough (and cute) I'm getting cold feet.

Girls trip was so much fun and we're off again next weekend - I can't wait!

My Kinder kid had Prep orientation today. He has a big brother at the school so he is very comfortable at the school & knows where everything is, knows all the teachers & half the kids.
I picked him up from orientation at 3:15 & we had to wait around for big brother to get out at 3:30.
Kinder kid had to go to the toilet. Normally he lets me know he's going, grabs another kinder kid that is running around & they go together. Never any problems. Today however, he wanted to go with me.
I stood outside the boys toilets & watched him go into the first stall though the open door. Kinder kid didn't shut the stall door.....he's a kinder kid.....they don't have doors on the toilet at kinder & at home it's a free for all.
Two older boys were in the toilet also. One came out & the door swung open enough for me to see kinder kid in the stall. The 2nd older boy didn't follow his friend. He went into the stall my Kinder kid was in & attempted to shut the door, closing himself in the cubical with my 5 year old.....who has his pants down.......
The 1st older boy saw me standing there & called out to his friend & indicated me standing there. The 2nd boy came out (not having had a chance to actually close the door) & both older boys took off.
It all happened so quickly that I didn't get a chance to process what I had seen let a lone act on it.
Being able to identify the older boy, I went directly to the principal & explained what had just happened. He was very understanding & was not happy with what I had seen. He is going to follow up with the older boy tomorrow.
Am I over-reacting? Am I reading all the horrible things online & applying it to my own life?
I'm not a dramatic person. I'm very much a "you'll be right" kind of mum, but this situation rattled me. What if I hadn't gone with him & he had taken a kinder kid like he usually does?!?!
Aaarrrgghh.....can't stop thinking about it!!!

That's really awful. I don't want to freak you out, but have you thought that maybe this has happened to him once before from the same boys and that's why he wanted you to go with him this time? I doubt it but it's a thought.
