Rosie Batty reflects on the loss of her son, Luke. Her message is one that must be heard.

Today, the family and friends of 11-year-old Luke Batty will farewell the little boy who was tragically killed by his father at a suburban cricket ground last week.

This is a video of Channel 9’s Georgie Gardner speaking to Luke’s mother Rosie Batty about domestic violence, her only son’s legacy and the message we take from this hoffific incident.

Please share this video to help further Rosie Batty’s wish to start a community dialogue about domestic violence, and to remember her beautiful son.

I think that it is pretty clear here that the people to blame are Greg first and foremost and then the legal system who failed to protect the community and his family by following through with the orders. Poor Rosie will have to live with this everyday for the rest of her life. Before saying what you think she should have done, just ask yourself if you believe she would have ever done things this way if she believed her beautiful and only son would end up murdered? Of course she wouldn't and that is the tragedy.

I truly admire the strength and courage of this remarkable woman. To try and raise awareness to domestic violence - an issue that is all too prevalent in society whilst struggling with such an enormous loss, is brave to say the very least.

I can't believe there have been people around the country questioning her ability as a mother. It's tiresome and misdirected. She was doing the best she could with the situation she was in. Mental illness is a difficult landscape to navigate.

So let's share this for Luke. Let's share this to raise awareness. Let's share this for the brave woman who has had her world stopped turning, yet still seeks to save somebody a similar pain. Lets share this because we should - because we're human - and because 11 years on this earth is not enough.
