The nominations for this year's Logie Awards are in. Drumroll, please.

“And the Gold Logie goes to…”

It’s Australian television’s night of nights, and by the looks of it this year is shaping up to be no exception as the nominees for the 56th Annual TV Week Logie Awards were announced today.

And this year it’s new mums for the win (alongside reality television, of course).

New mothers Asher Keddie and Carrie Bickmore are both in the running to take home the coveted Gold Logie, alongside The Block‘s Scott Cam, Home and Away‘s Stephen Peacocke and everyone’s favourite Aussie on-screen bromance Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.

Keddie, who is nominated for the fifth year in a row, has spoken about being recognised for her two roles this year – As Nina Proudman in Offspring and later as Kate Ballard in Party Tricks.

More: Congratulations, Asher Keddie.

“It’s a nice thing to be recognised by both your audience and your peers,” she said.

“It’s a special moment that’s not lost on me.”

Bickmore, who is also up for the Most Popular Presenter award, added that she is also grateful to be nominated for the fourth time.

“Every year I am shocked [by the nomination],” she said.

“I am just genuinely happy to be nominated, and a bit blown away by the time we get there on the actual night!”

Each of Keddie and Bickmore’s fellow Gold Logie nominees have also been nominated before, with The Block host Scott Cam taking home the goods last time around.

Amongst the other categories, Home and Away proves that it’s still a crowd pleaser with the Channel 7 drama boasting nominees for Most Popular Actor and Actress, as well as Most Popular Drama Program.

And reality television programs continue to climb in the ranks, with Big Brother, Bondi Vet, My Kitchen Rules, The Block and Bondi Rescue all receiving nominations.

As much as I like Scott Cam, I don't think he deserves the Gold Logie. Why does he keep getting nominated? I'd vote for an end to the block - it's become over-scripted and lost it's focus.
Go Asher!
