Adelaide mum Kylie Anne Hie has admitted to being high on methamphetamines when she crashed her car and killed her four-year-old daughter.
The pair, who were driving home from a funeral in November 2013, were travelling in Hie’s white Toyota van when the 34-year-old attempted to overtake a 40 tonne semi-trailer on the South Eastern Freeway.
Within moments, the two vehicles had collided, with Hie’s daughter, Charlotte May-Grace, dying at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital shortly after the crash.

Police have claimed Charlotte was sitting in a car seat that had not been properly restrained in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash.
Despite testing positive for methamphetamine following the accident, Hie had long denied being under the influence of drugs, claiming she had suffered a seizure at the time of the accident instead.

Hie appeared at the Adelaide District Court on Wednesday, pleading guilty to aggravated death by dangerous driving. According to The Advertiser, the change in pleas comes following Hie visiting the crash site with jurors this week.
Prosecutor Carmen Matteo told the courtroom that Hie had been seen driving erratically and tailgated a number of other drivers in the lead-up to the crash, noting that Hie had previously been convicted of drink-driving, speeding, and driving on a disqualified licence.

Hie's attorney, Heather Stokes, said it has "obviously been very difficult for my client for a very long time."
The 34-year-old was granted bail and ordered to return to court in October for her sentencing.

Stupid, stupid woman. Now two lives are ruined, three if the father is still in the picture (the article didn't state anything about a father). High on meth and with a kid in the front seat? Now her daughter is dead and she'll have to live with that guilt for the rest of her life and is also facing jail time.
Why is she out on bail?, she was driving under the influence, failed in her duty of care to secure the child seat and though her negligent/dangerous driving caused an accident involving a fatality, on a freeway!. We need to set a better standard than this.
