Kyle Sandiland's ex-wife: "My life was miserable"

Kyle Sandiland’s ex-wife Tamara Jaber has spoken candidly about her marriage to the controversial radio host.

In an interview with News Limited, the 29-year-old singer -who first met Kyle when she was a member of pop group Scandal’us – said her 2-year-marriage was miserable and that “King Kyle” was so controlling he wouldn’t even let her speak for herself.

This from News.com.au:

When she was married to King Kyle, she claims he wouldn’t let her use the home computer, he spoke for her and controlled her money. And, she says, she didn’t have the balls to do anything about it.

“When I was with Kyle, I was just an accessory to his world,” says the LA-based singer, who married Sandilands on September 28, 2008 and officially separated from him on July 12, 2010. They are yet to divorce.

“I would sit on the sidelines and watch as he spoke for me. There was no way that he would allow my own personality to come through. My life was miserable then,” she reflects.

“My existence is so much less shallow than it was before. I couldn’t believe how much time I spent trying to keep up appearances.”

In response, Kyle said: “Tamara was miserable, but this was mainly because of the response to her solo music career. She takes things very personally but she really is very talented. I have heard that she is very happy now and that’s good.”

Jaber said Kyle also “robbed me of a sense of accomplishment” and ” wouldn’t even let me use the computer because we had people around us to do that. I never had the balls to stand up for myself.”

She now lives in LA and supports herself by singing at corporate events.

I met Kyle in person once. He was incredibly warm and kind. I will never forget it. It made me wonder if the media has blinkers on and only focuses on the negatives regarding him.

I realise this comment will be oh-so-unpopular, but I just want to say that in my opinion Kyle Sandilands is the most mis-understood celebrity in Australia. I am a listener of 2dayFM and the Kyle & Jacquie O show, and I can tell you with no reservation that he has to be THE most down to earth, humble and thoughtful (yes admittedly sometimes provocative) celebrity on airwaves. He is pure gold.

I with you on this, The Constant Reader. I don't listen to 2GB, but I've been scrutinising Kyle Sandiland's TV performances to see what it is about him that inspires such vitriol from so many people. I just don't understand it. Sure, he sometimes puts his foot in it but I think that his response to Tamara Jaber's comments here show the true measure of him and not those foot-in-mouth moments.
