Meeting up with an ex is never easy, but this situation is something else.
It must be bizarre to see your ex-husband, the father of (some of) your children, transformed from a manly former athlete to a glamorous woman.
That’s what happens to Kris Jenner, 59, in the latest episode of I Am Cait, the reality series documenting Caitlyn Jenner’s new life after her transition from being Bruce Jenner, famed Olympian and dad to many offspring.
The pair met up, ostensibly to discuss their new family arrangements.

Caitlyn, 65, says before her ex-wife’s arrival: “I just probably should get some things off my chest and probably her too. We did have a lot of great times. We’ve moved on, both of us, but I don’t want to throw the good times away. So for the kids, Kendall and Kylie, I don’t want tension. I don’t want to put them in a tough position. This is really very, very difficult.”
Kris Jenner arrives, armed with a box of cookies that she definitely didn’t make herself (ain’t nobody got time for that). They both look incredibly glamorous with full faces of make-up and stiletto heels that probably cost as much as a small car.
The first thing Kris says, after trying to disguise her shock at her ex-husband’s new appearance, is that she loves Caitlyn’s shoes.
It must feel very strange to covet your ex-husband’s shoes.
Despite the contrived situation, there’s obvious tension between the two and the conversation quickly becomes emotional.
“You’re sensitive and amazing to all these new people in your life, you’re just not so sensitive and amazing to the family that you left behind,” Kris tells Caitlyn.
Talk moves to the Vanity Fair story in which Caitlyn Jenner first debuted. In it, she called the various families she raised with three different wives a “distraction”.
Kris starts to cry and says, “When you feel like you gave your whole life to somebody and the sum of it all was you were a distraction…”
Caitlyn tells her not to “go there”.
“It was a distraction from the sense of who I was, it doesn’t mean I didn’t love you or the kids.”
The episode airs September 6.

This is probably one of the only times I will have empathy for Kris Jenner and what she is going through. One of my closest friends has gone through this with her ex husband and it is an incredibly traumatic experience for the wife and children left behind.
