Dinner recipes you actually like, modified for kids.

I love food. Really, really love food. But most of the food I love is firmly in the grown-up column. I love spicy, I love raw, I love green. These are all things that kids are not known to be fans of. So imagine all your favourite meals, made kiddie-friendly. Imagine no more…

Monday: Puttanesca

I mostly love puttanesca for its salty, tangy, spicy hit. Salty is not good for kids.

Tuesday: Lebanese Mezza

I love what I call a ‘bitsy’meal, where you can sit and pick at lots of little things, and build your own little plates. For that reason, I love Lebanese. But I’ve never taken my kids. Until now…

Wednesday: Sushi Sandwiches

Sushi is my favourite lunch. I see other kids eating sushi, but mine could not be less interested. Maybe this will ease them in?

Thursday: Vietnamese Chicken Soup

Love Vietnamese soup soooo much. But since my daughter had an unfortunate encounter with the chilli sauce at a Chinatown noodle shop, I can’t get her near a noodle soup.

Friday: Breakfast for dinner

Who doesn’t love an all-day breakfast? My son loves eggs, my daughter loves bacon, but neither loves both at the same time!

Do you have any kids dinner recipes that are perfect for adults, too?

My kids (7 year old twins) love quiche and I find it's such an easy way to grate vegetables into the mix before cooking. A mild satay (I add plain yoghurt) or home made fish cakes work for them too. I think the breakfast for dinner is a great idea, I think my kids would love the novelty of it...I'll try that this week. For myself I have found when trying new meals with the kids if you get them involved in the prep they are usually more inclined to eat it x

Oh, and we have breakfast for dinner at least once a week. It's quick, cheap and filling.

Do you know, it has never occurred to me to do an all day breakfast for tea. Winner written all over it....

The kids certainly love it and it takes the pressure off me if I've been at work all day and haven't had a chance to prepare something ahead of time (because invariably they're starving as soon as we walk in the door!)
