A former Pussycat Dolls member has labelled the group a 'prostitution ring'.

A former Pussycat Dolls member has likened the band, who confirmed a reunion earlier this week, as closer to a prostitution ring than a girl group.

Kaya Jones, who left the band in 2005, made the allegations on Twitter this week.

“My truth. I wasn’t in a girl group. I was in a prostitution ring. Oh and we happened to sing and be famous. While everyone who owned us made the $,” the 33 year-old singer wrote.

She said it was so bad, that she “walked away from my dreams, bandmates and a 13 million dollar record deal.”

Jones joined the LA-based burlesque group turned pop group in 2003 and left two years later just before their debut single Don’t Cha launched them to worldwide fame.

“To be apart [sic] of the team you must be a team player. Meaning sleep with whoever they say. If you don’t they have nothing on you to leverage,” she continued.

"Yes I said leverage. Meaning after they turn you out or get you hooked on drugs they use it against you. Correct. Victimizing the victim again."

Jones alleged that Robin [Antin, the choreographer who founded that group] and the record label made all the money, while the Pussycat Dolls members were paid $500 a week "while we were being used and abused".

According to Jones, it was not easy to report.

She revealed she'd spoken about it on multiple occasions before but no-one had taken any notice.

Off the back of the recent Weinstein allegations, Jones urged other band members and those in the industry to speak out.

On Mamamia Out Loud, Mia, Rachel and Jessie discuss everything that is happening with Harvey Weinstein....Post continues after audio.

In her tweets, Jones also called out a nameless "den mother" over the suicide of an unamed member of a different group. Some are alleging she's referring to Simon Battle, a former member of the Pussycat Dolls and spin off girl group G.R.L, also created by Antin, who took her own life in 2014.

Last week it was confirmed that Nicole Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Roberts would be reuniting. The Pussycat Dolls were the most successful group of the noughties, selling more records than Destiny's Child.
