Here are the first shots of Molly Shannon and Selma Blair in character as the US Kath & Kim.
Selma spoke to the Australian media about how pissed some people are here that they’re making an American version.
"Some people are really protective and horrified that we’re doing it in the United States."
Surely people, there are more important things to be pissed about? Like this. And this. And this. And, like, global warming.
Selma also claims she gained some weight to play Kim:
"The
joke is I wear the same clothes from when I was 13 and when I sit down
there will be a big roll over my shorts and I call myself the hottest
thing. There will definitely be the appearance of a thong or two."

Americans seem to be in complete denial that they have the one of the highest stat of obesity in the world. I thought their bogans would be generally fatter than Selma Blair!
I guess they have to do what works for the American audience. I have no idea what their bogans are like! Probably not as funny as our bogans. Ha ha!
As a bonafide Kath & Kim lover, I have to say I really hope the US version is alike in name only. I think they can pull it off if they do a 'trailer park white trash' version, but not if they try to copy the humour directly. From the picture it looks like they have missed the whole point of physical comedy in the show. Kim is supposed to be fat, not Hollywood 'fat', but with actual fat rolls coming out the back of her 'bumsters'. And Kath is supposed to have hilarious accessories (fluffy Kiwi earrings anyone?). By the way, is there anyone in this world that could possible think Selma looks plump in that picture (except maybe an Olsen twin?)
