Josh Duggar is being sued by one of the girls he molested as a teenager.

The civil suit may mean Josh and his family could be forced to give details on the abuse and the cover up, according to InTouch.

While the future of the show is still undecided, 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar is being sued by one of his victims.

It was only late May when Josh Duggar’s past of sexual abuse came to light, after InTouch uncovered former investigations into abuse claims against the now 27-year-old that had been covered up by Josh’s family members.

Now the magazine is reporting that Josh is being sued by one of his victims – two of his five victims were his younger sisters – who is reportedly very upset that the last month has seen her relive the abuse as a result of the media attention.

The victim reportedly feels Josh and his family are attempting to minimise her pain by covering up the abuse.

The civil suit that has been filed by the victim could mean Josh’s parents, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, are forced to testify about the abuse.

InTouch states the family will be forced to answer questions about their role in covering up the abuse, including how long before Josh and his victims received counselling and what they did when they first found out about the abuse in 2002.

“It’s not uncommon for a victim to come forward years after the abuse has taken place,” a source said.

“She may have repressed it or processed it in her own way, but Josh’s public admission that he did something wrong — and how Jim Bob and Michelle handled everything on TV — surely had to affect her.”

The magazine also says the Duggars cannot evoke the Fifth Amendment – which states that “no person shall be held to answer for a capital or infamous crime unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury” – as the statute of limitations has expired.

Mamamia will update this article as the story develops.

I was molested/abused by my brother as a child for five years. When I finally told my parents age 14, they separated us for less than six months and warned me that telling anybody would ruin the whole family and it would all be my fault and I needed to forgive him. For more than a decade afterwards I kept civil, I even baked him birthday cakes to 'prove' my forgiveness and loyalty to my horrible family. He has never ever shown any kind of remorse or acknowledgement of the hell I went through and the burden I still carry. Several years on, he is about to have a child. I am watching this Duggar case very closely. My family is totally unsupportive and prepared to lie for him, but I feel I need to report and try and prosecute him to protect his child and other little girls from being sexually abused. At the moment, the Duggar case is the only thing giving me hope that I may one day get to have justice, and some chance of living a normal life.
