Debate: The most influential person of the last 100 years. Go.

When you talk about the most influential person in the last 100 or so years, the first that spring to mind are Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa. Mainly for their work in bringing peace to a violent world.

However, there are a lot more reasons someone can be truly inspiring and influential. How about dedicating your life and wealth to eradicating a disease? Or giving women a positive identity? Or being the first to achieve something regardless of your race, gender or sexual orientation?

Our favourite Mamamia personalities get deep and meaningful over a beer at the Watsons Bay Hotel to figure it out.

I'd say Hitler. As well as the obviously devastating, wide-reaching and lasting effects of WWII a lot of scientific, medical, social and technological advances actually came out of the Nazi regime.

I must stress that I do not endorse in any way whatsoever the cruel and horrific ways in which some of those advances were achieved. However when considering the question purely for what it is, I'd say Hitler and his regime had more influence on modern day society than just about any other living human in the past century.

I'd also throw Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison into the top 5 and agree with the commenter below who suggested Bill Gates.

It's surely got to be an inventor, scientist or great leader though. I can't see the video but did someone on it really say Oprah and J.K. Rowling? Really?! I weep for society.
