Richard Reid has been announced as the winner of this year’s season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The entertainment reporter beatGoggleboxstar and fan favourite Yvie as well as former AFL player Shane Crawford to win the title, after spending the last four weeks in the South African Jungle.
Campsite prankster Shane Crawford was eliminated in the middle of the episode, leaving Yvie and Richard to battle it out for the title, and the prize money to donate to their chosen charities – Safe Pets Safe Families and Beyond Blue respectively.
Richard spent the last four weeks competing in physical challenges and tucker trials to survive with the ultimate aim of winning $100,000 for Beyond Blue, a charity dear to his heart after formerly struggling with alcoholism.
After a years-long struggle with alcohol including a series of destructive benders and a brief stint in hospital, the entertainment reporter gave up alcohol once and for all seven years ago,
Speaking toLoveIslandstar and fellow camper Justin Lacko on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out OfHere ,the journalist opened up about the moment he knew he had to change his habits around alcohol.
“I look back at when I drank… I would drink to celebrate, I would drink when I was depressed, I would drink when I was tired,” Richard said.
“I had several incidents back-to-back that I am not proud of.”
The season saw similar emotional admissions made by several contestants, including runner-up Yvie.
Most notably during the season, Yvie became the first contestant to refuse to participate in the weight loss challenge, delivering a passionate statement of body positivity.

“I wish we lived in a different world where what we look like doesn’t matter,” she said.
“I feel like we’ve all been doing so well, and now we’re going to celebrate how much weight we’ve lost and how that’s something to be proud of. I don’t think it is something to be proud of,” she said.
Her address was met with an avalanche of support from fans who praised the formerGoggleboxstar for her candour.
“I’m so incredibly grateful I was given a platform,” she said tonight of the powerful moment.
