Has there been too much talk about Heath and not enough about war?

Montel Williams is an American talk-show host. Here he is on the Fox Morning Show, railing against the coverage of Heath Ledger’s death and comparing one life to the 28 soldiers who died in Iraq the day before.

And what about the Iraqi civilians! How many of them died! It’s not just about Amercians, Montel….

Look, I think the war is appalling and messy and I’m not proud to say that I change the channel and turn the page of the paper when Iraq news comes up. But Heath? Oh I’m reading everything about that.
Was his life more important than the people dying in wars or famines around the world? i’ve certainly not seen a death media frenzy like the Heath one for years….since…..well, Anna Nicole certainly didn’t get this kind of coverage.

What do you think? Are we being death voyeurs. Should we just let him be buried and move on?

Are we demanding it or are the media just feeding it to us? I think it's a vicious cycle. Remember that when you buy a magazine or watch something, don't do it and they may stop harassing these people.
But I think it's important to learn from Heath's death that you need to be careful with medication, when we often are not.
I've never used illegal drugs but have been put on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds (like Heath apparently was) and have taken sleeping tabs with them. It's so hard when you can't sleep sometimes you think if you just take another tablet it'll help, you're so desperate for sleep. What happened to Heath could probably have happened to me many times! (And may still, look at the time I'm posting this... can't sleep, again)
I do think Montel Williams was right in that we should know who is being killed in Iraq and other areas of conflict. ALL the people being killed, civilians too. It's important to know what's going on there.
I studied the Vietnam War and a few of the things about Iraq remind me of that... guerilla warfare is just called terrorism now.

I think we crave info on him because he was sooo private. The tighter you hold on to something the more it slips through your fingers. Cate Blanchett pretty much gets left alone because she doesnt create drama when she goes out, whereas other celebs attract the attention they dont want because they make a drama out of trying to avoid it. Sadly now, his family need to be left alone as does his child and her mum but the mystery of his life (and death) is still lingering and we want to know about it.
