All the wonderful things that have happened this year. Let's celebrate them.

There’s no denying it’s been a truly terrible year: Bowie died, Brexit happened and Matty J had his heart broken on national television.

To top it all off there was that business with the creepy clowns, oh, and the Trumpocalypse.

It’s safe to say we all need some cheering up, so consider this a reminder that even on the darkest of days there’s always good in the world.

The sun comes up, babies are born and dogs, well, they’re dogs. DOGS.

So push Brangelina to that back of your mind. Here’s a list, in no particular order, of some of the things both big and small that have made us smile and hug and laugh and cheer and sing and dance in 2016.

And a couple of things we’re still looking forward to.

1. For starters, Prince George started school.

2. And greeted Obama in this tiny bathrobe.

3. Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar.

9. The Netflix Gilmore Girls revival is just a few weeks away.

10. One of my work colleagues met this baby foal. His name is Bubba.

11. Bubba spent his first day in the paddock with his mum.

12. Another of my work colleagues came SECOND in pub trivia last week. (Not pictured.)

13. Beyonce released "Lemonade".

14.The world went mad for Pokemon Go.

15. The ALS "ice bucket challenge" led to an actual breakthrough for sufferers of motor neurone disease.

16. It's almost Christmas.

We know there are real, scary things happening in the world, but there's also time to be grateful for the good stuff.

Like new undies and drinking coffee in bed and Prince George.

Nice. it's easy to get swamped under the tidal wave of terrible things we read in the news every day - not just the US elections, but all the other awful stuff which sometimes feels like it's never ending. It can be hard to remember the good stuff. Maybe this could become a regular feature here on Mamamia - 'Five great things that happened this week', something like that?
