Georgia Love opens up about losing her mother two days after The Bachelorette finale.

For Georgia Love, the word bittersweet doesn’t go far enough to explain the 48 hours after The Bachelorette finale screened.

Australia had finally learned who she’d fallen “so madly” for; then just one day later she was given the heartbreaking news that her mother, Belinda, had died from pancreatic cancer.

Appearing with her partner Lee Elliott on The Project tonight, the former news reporter spoke of just how tough it really was.

"It would have been so much more difficult if Lee hadn't have been there." Image: Channel 10.

"In the space of 24 hours we went from one of the happiest moments, where we could finally actually be in the same room together and tell everybody how we feel and be able to relax. And literally 24 hours later I got the worst phone call of my life," she said.

"I mean, talk about highs and lows."

The 28-year-old said while many people have asked her if she regrets filming the show during her mother's final months, she wouldn't change a thing.

"It's been incredibly difficult, but it would have been made so much more difficult if Lee hadn't have been there. So there are silver linings," she said.

“You know, you can look back at any point of your life and go, well, I was away for two months travelling there or a year working there, but if I had not have gone on The Bachelorette I wouldn’t have had Lee but I would have still been in Tassie, I would have been further away from my mum.

“So you know, I don’t regret anything that happened ... And my mum absolutely supported me 100 per cent in doing this, and in everything I did."

Since Belinda's tragic death, Lee and Georgia have become active campaigners for awareness around pancreatic cancer, a disease which Georgia reminded viewers has a survival rate of just seven per cent - that's compared to 90 per cent for breast cancer.

Their latest fundraising effort is a group date with the 2016 Bachelorette boys. That's lunch with 16 handsome men. Sixteen. Twelve seats are available to the highest bidders, with all money going toward Pancare Foundation.

"We need more money to able to research, to stop other families going through what my family is going through," said Georgia tonight.
