1. First Sinead O’Connor and now Annie Lennox. The former Eurythmics lead singer has spoken out about Miley Cyrus and other female pop stars’ risque performances and music videos.
“I have to say that I’m disturbed and dismayed by the recent spate of overtly sexualised performances and videos,” Lennox wrote on her Facebook page.
“You know the ones I’m talking about. It seems obvious that certain record companies are peddling highly styled pornography with musical accompaniment.
“As if the tidal wave of sexualised imagery wasn’t already bombarding impressionable young girls enough..I believe in freedom of speech and expression, but the market forces don’t give a toss about the notion of boundaries. As long as there’s booty to make money out of, it will be bought and sold.
“It’s depressing to see how these performers are so eager to push this new level of low.Their assumption seems to be that misogyny- utilised and displayed through oneself is totally fine, as long as you are the one creating it. As if it’s all justified by how many millions of dollars and U tube hits you get from behaving like pimp and prostitute at the same time. It’s a glorified and monetized form of self harm.”
The Facebook update has been shared 15,144 times and had over 55, 400 likes and Lennox has posted another update qualifying what she meant about sexuality.
“On reflection I will say that sexuality is an inherent and profound part of life. There is absolutely nothing “wrong” about our sexuality or sensuality per se – But if a performing artist has an audience of impressionable young fans and they want to present a soft porn video or highly sexualised live performance, then it needs to qualify as such and be X rated for adults only.”
In other Miley Cyrus related news, the 20-year-old said she doesn’t think that people over 40 have sex.
During an interview with Matt Lauer on the US Today Show Miley Cyrus said: “I heard when you turn 40 things start to go a little less sexual. So probably around 40, I heard that’s when people don’t have sex anymore,” Miley said.
Lauer then asked Miley how old she thought he was. She guessed 40, but set himself up when he revealed his true age of 55.
“Oh, well, then you’re really definitely not sexual,” Miley said.
Awkward.
8. Did Ruby Rose and Demi Lovato have a secret tryst?
DJ Ruby Rose has been forced to defend herself after tweeting about a supposed fling with US singer and X-Factor judge Demi Lovato.
Rose, 27, tweeted on Sunday she was taking a break from twitter after being ‘attacked’ by Demi’s fans about the rumoured fling.
Apparently that social media break didn’t extend to Instagram however, where Rose made the comment “I’m like the one person Demi has slept with, that didn’t sell naked photos of her, so eff off.” That clearly makes Rose the better person apparently. Charming.
After more tweets and deletes (the self imposed twitter ban didn’t last all that long), Rose ended her tirade with a ‘love and peace to everyone’ message, but never once retracted her original comments regarding Demi.

Remember a few years back when Annie Lennox performed "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)", at the Logies.
Now that was a disturbing performance.
