Spitting image. Would you say?
Fourteen years after the death of Diana, the first pics of Naomi Watts playing the role of the Princess of Wales in a movie about her life have emerged. And the resemblance is uncanny.
The movie, Caught In Flight, focuses on the two years of Diana’s life before her death in Paris in 1997 – it will include her relationship with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan and subsequent relationship with Dodi Fayed, who also died in the car accident.
When Watts was announced at the actress who would play the role of Diana, she said: “It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role – Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.
“She is a part of our history, an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending.
“The film-makers came to me and it’s a good script and it’s very scary and I kind of wanted to say “no” but I couldn’t.”

There’s a scene in ‘The Five Year Engagement’ where Emily Blunt dresses up as Princess Diana for a costume party. SHE was a better likeness of Lady Di that Naomi Watts. I don’t see the resemblance AT ALL here. Emily Blunt would have been a FAR better choice for the role, plus she’s a Brit.

Wasn't she beautiful.... I feel sad after looking at those photos.
I quite like Naomi Watts... I think with the right clothes and prosthetics she might pull it off. It'll be more about getting the body language and expressions right than how she actually looks I think.
Having said that, Charlize Theron is the same height as Diana and has a much more similar complexion and build to her than Naomi Watts does. I think she'd be a better Diana looks-wise.
