The most beautiful reason to trash the dress.

Janine Slack’s beautiful wedding dress was meant to mark the beginning of her new life. A life shared with her fiance, John.

But fifty-two days before their wedding, John died unexpectedly and Janine was left heartbroken. She was also left with the memory of a completely planned wedding that was never going to happen and a custom made wedding dress, she says was just “for him”.

Until she met wedding photographer, Matt Adcock.

Matt helped Janine find peace as he helped turn her wedding plans in to a beautiful series of photos as a dedication to her relationship with John and the perfect wedding ceremony they planned together that never happened.

Take a look:

Speaking to Del Sol photography, Matt said.

“After I heard Janine’s story, I really wanted to do what I could to create a magical adventure for her.  She told me that she felt a strong connection with the element of water, for its cleansing and purifying qualities and the sense of freedom she felt while swimming.  I knew that the natural aquatic wonders of the Riviera Maya would offer great comfort and would be the perfect vehicle for her healing process.”

And so they created the most beautiful images for Janine. For her mind. For her heart.

Janine said she wanted to find ‘closure’ through the photo shoot, and after watching this beautiful video, we hope she did:

This is unbelievably beautiful and bittersweet. She has so much strength!

I lost my fiancé 18 months ago to Hodgkin's Lymphoma, 3 months after he was diagnosed... My wedding dress is still hanging in my closest even though I can't even bear to look at it. I still wear my engagement ring on my finger, along with the ring my fiancé had picked out to be my wedding ring... despite the fear of someone asking if I'm married or engaged- I never know what to say and half the time I end up crying.

I can't even begin to think about moving on, but I also know that I haven't found closure yet.

What this woman did takes an unbelievable amount of courage. She honored her "marriage" in such a wonderful way.

Praying for her and her peace.
