Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood's incredible reason for wearing a suit to the Golden Globes.

There’s nothing we love more than seeing a different approach to fashion on a red carpet.

Actually, there is ONE thing we love more: a celebrity having an amazing reason for taking a different approach to their fashion choice on a red carpet.

Enter Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood, who walked the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet in a custom made tuxedo.

She explained the very special - and very empowering - reason she had chosen that outfit for the first big awards show of the year.

"This is my third nomination and I've been to the Globes six times and I've worn a dress every time," she explained to E!'s Ryan Seacrest.

"I love dresses...I wanted to make sure that young girls and women knew that they aren't a requirement, and you don't have to wear one if you don't want to. (Post continues after video.)

"Just be yourself, you're worth more than that."

The 29-year-old actress is nominated for Best Actress in a Television Drama for her role in HBO's 2016 hit, in which she plays Dolores, an A.I. 'host' in a make-believe Western theme park.

How is the expectation that women wear dresses in any way sexist or oppressive? What does she mean you're worth more than that??
Is it sexist for men have to wear suits? Would it be empowering for a man to show up in a dress??

It's very sexist because you should not have to wear something revealing, like a dress, if you don't want to. Dresses either plunge down to there, or are slashed up to here, or are mega skin tight. An elegant suit looks better than most other options I can think of when you want to either dress modestly or be a fashion individualist.
