Turns out Eva Mendes wrote one of La La Land's most famous lines.

Hands up who has seen La La Land? Yeah, obviously.

So, you know the line when Ryan Gosling’s character Sebastian goes, “L.A. worships everything and values nothing.” Yeah? That one?

Well guess what – his talented lady friend Eva Mendes MADE THAT UP.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gosling let slip that the iconic line from the movie was actually a real-life musing from his baby mama.

“‘L.A. worships everything and values nothing.’ That was something my lady said to me one day and I thought it was so funny I asked her if I could put it in the movie,” Gosling told ET's Denny Directo.

“She was kidding, but it’s a funny thing to say. I loved when she said it, because it’s funny enough to have some truth to it, you know? But it’s obviously a joke, so it just seemed appropriate for the movie.”

Just when we thought we couldn't love Eva Mendes any more, she goes and sprouts prolific social observations.

*Sigh*

I really don't understand all the fawning over what was a fairly average movie. Unmemorable songs - and not enough songs to be considered a musical in my book, average singing and dancing from the leads, and a fairly boring and predictable story with a shitty ending.
