If you’d worn these at any point in the last decade you would have been laughed out of town. Now they’re the height of style.
Welcome back, embroidered jeans.
The ’90s staple has returned with a bang this season, appearing on the ruunways of high fashion designers like Valentino, Gucci and Alice and Olivia and quickly becoming a favourite of the street style set.
From mum and boyfriend baggy-style jeans to your go-to slim fit skinnies (and even a few bootcut pairs in between), embroidery is taking to denim of all styles quicker than a rash. A #fashunionable rash, of course.
Think floral designs, cartoon patches and even witty one liners sewn into the legs.

Recently limited to fashion for under fives and dated hand-me-down jeans, the season's biggest denim trend is already taking over your favourite stores. (Post continues after gallery.)

Anyone who threw their old pair into an op shop donation pile in recent years will be kicking themselves.
Many are greeting the nostalgic (guys, the '90s were almost 30 years ago) trend with open arms.
However it seems not everyone is convinced.
Case in point: Melbourne-based personal stylist Sally MacKinnon shared a picture of a black pair she recently purchased, but wasn't sure about keeping, on her Facebook page and asked what her followers thought about the trend.
They weren't shy.
"Yuck","Nope", "Hate it. Fashion or not, I will not go there," were just some of the responses she received.
"Sort of looks cute on toddlers with a few flowers etc, but it should stop there !!!!!," added another user.
It's a sentiment echoed everywhere online.
With the loud patch trend also making its way on denim jackets, bomber jackets, T-shirts and accessories, this is one trend that looks set to stick around for at least a little while.
