It was one of the biggest trends of summer 2024: the unexpected combination of an oversized graphic tee and a lace maxi skirt.

While it seemed pretty out of the box, the look was deceptively simple because it only required two pieces to make a bold statement.

The outfit tapped into the cool, just-threw-this-on energy of Copenhagen street style, and the way Scandinavian women seem to dress intuitively, without too much thought or analysis.

On a recent episode of our fashion podcast Nothing To Wear, host Leigh Campbell shared some of the key trends she spied on the streets of Paris during Fashion Week in February — and one she noticed time and time again was European women teaming sweaters with full skirts.

It's really the same logic as the whole big tee with a lace skirt combo — just swap the t-shirt for a roomy knit and the sheer skirt for a maxi with more coverage.
