The way this man is being treated is absolutely abhorrent. His name is Earth.

This man has his head shaved against his will. He has handfuls of cigarettes stuffed in his mouth, so he’s breathing in smoke. He has oil poured down his throat.

His name is Earth.

This video is a powerful – and confronting – reminder about how we treat our planet every day.

Today is Earth Day. A time to take five minutes to think about this planet we live on, and what we could be doing differently.

So take those five minutes, and have a look at some of the resources below.

Visit the Earth Day network, to learn about their current campaigns.

Visit the Australian Conservation Foundation to learn about (and support) their conservation efforts; or visit Greenpeace Australia, to learn about their current campaigns pushing for greater protection of the Arctic, the Great Barrier Reef, and Australian forests and farms from mining.

Visit 1 Million Women, to learn about how you can make small – and more sustainable – changes in your everyday life, that will help protect the planet.

What are you going to do to help protect the planet today?

Greed rules, our governments have allowed themselves to be at the back and call of immoral multinationals and those with vested interests who make money from raping the earth and destroying clean air and water for future generations.

Until we all realise that we are a part of the whole - nothing will change, unfortunately many people only value money. Sad but true.

I absolutely agree with this. Nothing eze meaningful to add, sadly. Have been doing lots of research to try to avos supporting idiots. It's like the biggest net ever made, all to keep us buying and making the rich, richer and screwing the poor.

Pretty much. You both might find this article I read the other day quite interesting. It's a bit depressing but very relateable. http://www.nytimes.com/2014...
