On Saturday, Donald Trump criticised the open border policies of European countries, suggesting that countries who had allowed “thousands” of refugees in were putting themselves at risk of being attacked by terrorists.
He referenced the recent terrorist attacks linked to ISIS militants in Germany, Belgium and France.
But he also included a Scandinavian country on his list, leaving the world baffled.
"You look at what's happening in Germany, you look at what's happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this?" Trump said.
The only problem? Nothing happened in Sweden on Friday night.
The vague remark from the US President has been met with rage, confusion and, yes, humour from Swedes across the world.
Former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt tweeted that he wanted to know what Trump "had been smoking" before making the odd remarks.
The Embassy of Sweden in the United States has confirmed that it has asked for "explanation" as to the meaning behind Trump's comments over the weekend.
But the best responses to Trump's latest controversy has come from the Swedes themselves, with the hashtag #SwedenIncident quickly trending on Twitter.
Trump has since stated his "Sweden Incident"comment was based on a television report he had seen. Right-o. Maybe he was watching Netflix?

You know, it wouldn't be so bad if he just once, even just once, admitted he got it wrong. Just a *teeny* little bit of humility. But it's like he has to win at all costs. No matter what. He cannot and will not cede a point. EVER. Even when caught red-handed. I think he'd earn a fair bit of cred and respect if he said, "my bad, I got it wrong - regardless.....blah, blah" etc.
I'm not going to pretend Trump's not an idiot because he is but it's not exactly like things are rosy in Sweden either. They are struggling to manage. There is a significant problem of gang crime linked to immigrants. Grenade attacks have become a common problem in Malmo and there has been the same depressing pattern of sex assaults at music festivals etc. There was also that awful live streamed gang rape in facebook.
