In an alternate universe, we’d be able to wear any type of shoe we want and our feet would be completely fine with it.
From strappy heels to pointy stilettos, there’d be no blisters, straps that dig in or pain associated with what might be a poor choice in footwear.
Alas, the world is not perfect and sometimes you find yourself walking home with your feet in agony, or your heels in your hands, wishing that you had the foresight to bring a change of flats.
Watch: Your day with or without heels… why do we do this to ourselves? Post continues below.
But the innovation we’ve needed is finally here. German brand, Mime et moi has created a range of heels that transform into flats in a matter of seconds.
Not only that, the shoes are made with detachable heels so you can manoeuvre between a ‘Super Block’ heel, a thinner ‘Block’ heel and a ‘Stiletto’ heel, all three of which are available in 7cm and 10cm lengths. For extra comfort, there is also a flat 3cm block heel attachment.
This way you can go through your morning commute in a 3cm block heel, wear your 10cm Super Block heel around the office, before changing back into a 3cm block heel for your train trip home.

I wonder how long these are going to last? It seems to me the heels will only last as long as whatever method is used to attach them, which is surely less robust than a fixed heel that is a permanent part of the shoe. It would be great if the heels were interchangeable with other shoes too.
Hard to imagine that the sole base of these shoes would be particularly supportive or robust, given that they would have to be flexible enough to bend if a high heel is applied, then straighten out if you wore them as flats.
