Woah. Did this Government Minister just drop the c-bomb?

A senior government Minister just either had the world’s most awkward slip of the tongue, or dropped a pretty heavy insult.

Education Minister Christopher’s Pyne and Labor’s Anthony Albanese appeared on the Today show this morning, where they chatted to host Karl Stefanovic.

Everything was going well, until Albanese, theShadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, made a cheeky dig at Pyne over the government’s current leadership crisis.

“I’ll see you with a new leader next week,” Albanese quipped — a reference to both Pyne’s and Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s insistence that Abbott will still be leader next week.

Quick as a flash, Pyne responded: “See you next Tuesday.”

As anyone who’s ever spent anytime in the a schoolyard knows, the phrase is popularly used as a vulgar slur, as a euphanism for the “c-word”.

Which means that if Pyne intentionally use to phrase, he effectively just called a politician the most potent of swear words on national breakfast television.

Wow. Just wow.

But of course, Minister Pyne has form for this. Maybe Chris Pyne was just tyring to say “grub”? Many viewers weren’t sure which of the two insults he was going for when he insulted Bill Shorten in Parliament last year…

Ummmm, this week wasn't a sitting week for the Australian Parliament. Next week is the first sitting week for both houses this year according to the 2015 Sitting Calendar.

The fact that Liberal MP Luke Simpkins has confirmed he will push for a spill of the party's leadership positions on Tuesday morning (as reported by the ABC) tends to strongly suggest that Christopher Pyne meant nothing other than there is possibly going to be a motion for a leadership spill on Tuesday next week. Nothing more, nothing less.
