Breastfeeding selfies are old news. Now celebrities are busy making something else look glamorous.

ScarJo is doing it. Kourtney Kardashian is doing it. Victoria’s Secret models are doing it… it’s a pump-fest.

Breasts. We’re sick of the sight of them on social media. But there’s a breast accessory it seems we have decided we need to see more of.

The pump.

Anyone who has ever pumped milk will tell you it’s the least glamorous activity you could possibly imagine. Picture a cow in the milking shed. But you’re the cow, and you’ve got sore boobs. There, you’ve got it.

So celebrities, God bless them, have taken it upon themselves to make pumping glam.

Enter, the pumpin’ pic.

Social media was buzzing when Kourtney Kardashian, 35, posted a photo of her very excellent breast-pumping suit on Instagram. Some were confused – at the time, we even questioned what this strange contraption was – but the overwhelming majority of people praised the reality star for ‘normalising breastfeeding’. Which, of course, is something we love to see.

Before Kardashian, there was Jersey Shore reality star Snooki, who said at the time: “I definitely want to pump because it’s the best nutrients for the baby. It’s kind of like you’re a cow and you’re just milking.”

And now, we’ve got Victoria’s Secret angel Doutzen Krous attempting to rid the world of the stigma attached to breastfeeding in public… by sharing a photo of her pumping to her 2.8 million followers, naturally.

“I’m promoting breastfeeding! It’s the best for your baby when possible!” She wrote alongside the image.

We’re all for the pump. Not because it’s good for your baby (even though we’re sure it is, but we’re not into sticking it into the faces of those who can’t breastfeed), but because we’re all for anything that normalises breastfeeding. After Facebook finally lifted the ridiculous ban on photos of bare breasts, we’re welcoming the pump.

It’s time to embrace it. Breast pumping is the new black, after all.

I love this. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who come out saying that they don't need to see it. I'm surprised at how little you can see, actually. I breastfeed in public but would never dare pump in public.

There's some primal sense of pride and satisfaction that goes looking at your freshly pumped milk in a bottle. The amount of times I had to stop myself from a 'my body makes food': feeling proud' fb update/photo. These celebs obviously get the same urge. I thinks it's awesome. Good work ladies

Me too! I still find it amazing that I can sustain my baby with my own body. It really is amazing. And pumping gives me an excuse to sit down for a while!
