This is worse than when Dr Patrick from Offspring died.

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read any further if you’re not completely up to date with Grey’s Anatomy.

It’s like the Dr Patrick moment all over again.

Crazy Grey’s Anatomy fans are petitioning to have McDreamy, aka Dr Derek Shepherd, aka Patrick Dempsey, brought back from the dead because they just cannot handle life without him.

Following on from last week’s ridiculous episode that saw McDreamy’s demise and collectively broke the hearts of millions of fans around the world, one hardcore Grey’s viewer has created a Change.org petition to get the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, to just be like ‘jokes, you guys. Derek is back. It was all a dream’.

Related: Block your ears, Grey’s Anatomy fans. Something huge just happened.

The petition has almost 60,000 signatures at the time of writing this, which has seriously increased from the measly 25,000 it had a couple of hours ago.

The die-hard fan who created the petition, Courtney Williams, is obviously not coping very well since the episode aired.

“This is important because you cannot have people invest a DECADE into a character and then you just terminate them like that! You have people out here donating blood and organs trying to save lives, wanting to become doctors and all from committing to this television show..just to let us down like this.  You’ve destroyed us. COMPLETELY!

Why Shonda, Why?

Why would you do us like this? Dedicated and die-hard fans! We DO NOT deserve this!”

Look, Courtney. We don’t really know if this is going to work. But props for being dedicated enough to try.

If you’re feeling as passionate as Courtney, you can sign the petition by clicking here.

And ps. Don’t mess with the Grey’s fans. They be cray.

When you post that picture next to that headline, you've already given away what's going to happen. Too late for the "Spoiler alert" once you click on the story, it was already ruined for me. Thanks for that.

It's not necessarily all on the writer - what if the actor wanted out?

Haha, that would be rational thought you speak of. I'm guessing these fans aren't entirely rational :)

He was contracted through to the end of next season, so don't think that's the case here. The episode sucked. Both because they killed him off, and because it had plot holes the size of the semi that hit him!
