Blake and Ryan have very different memories of the night they fell for each other.

It’s a tale as old as Pretty in Pink. Boy and girl are friends but boy thinks there’s something more. Meanwhile, girl is totally oblivious.

At least that’s how it was for Andie and Duckie AND Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

The only difference is, a decade or so and, Ryan and Blake are now happily married with  and another on the way. (Sorry Duckie.)

ANYWAY, earlier this year Ryan shared the cute story of the awkward double date when he first realised Blake was the girl for him.

It was awkward because they were with other people at the time.

“It was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone, all that stuff, we were both single,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party because we were just like fireworks.”

Cute, right? EXCEPT, Blake was nowhere near as keen.

“Went well for him, there were no fireworks for me. No,” she joked when the same journalist asked her about it this week.

“We were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends. It didn’t click for a good year and a half.”

When it did click, she was the one who went on to pursue him.

“I’m like, ‘Oh hey, wait. Hold on. We could date,’  she said.

“That’s what I appreciate about our relationship is that he’s my friend first and foremost.”

They tied the knot in September 2012.
