Best & Worst of the Week

This post may have been going forever but Best and Worst together with Open Post are my favourite posts every week on Mamamia. I think it’s because we get a little glimpse into the lives of the Mamamia community and get to share our ups and downs (and some of the greatest advice I’ve ever received has come from MM readers over the past few years). Sometimes it’s the advice you get from your ‘anonymous’ online friends that helps the most.

So  shut-up Bec and get on with it. Here’s my best and worst of the week ..

Best: I hate parties. Loathe them (if I could put the word ‘loathe’ in 72 point type and bold and underline it, I would).  I’m a small groups person and I find big parties excruciating because of the small-talk factor.  But last weekend was my husband Brad’s 40th birthday and it was wonderful.  Catching up with old friends from Brisbane (who flew down for the weekend) was like balm to my soul. It was just so good to see them.  And, most importantly, Brad had a ball.  One of the guests was my newly acquired friend Amity (Dry) who’s an Adelaide girl and been an absolute blessing for me since I moved to the City of Churches.

Worst: No real worsts this week. I’ve just been really, really tired and had a bit of insomnia. On Wednesday night I was awake from 2am-5am. So naturally I went online shopping and bought my toddler this gorgeous plastic toy kitchen with lights and sounds and I TOTALLY want to play with it. (Plus I’m hoping at least one person in our family will grow up knowing how to cook …). How do you deal with insomnia?

Over to you … what have been your highlights and lowlights of the week?

A little late but..

Best: Saw Paul McCartney last Monday. He was truly amazing. My whole life I wanted to see him play Let It Be and Blackbird - he played them both so beautifully I nearly cried (well, maybe I did just a little bit. Music gets me every time). Lifelong dream fulfilled.

Worst: Best friend has decided to move back to Oz in February, leaving me in London for minimum 8 months. She drives me mental sometimes, but I will certainly miss having a partner in crime.

Best: Its only 10 working days until I finish up and take maternity leave and begin to enjoy being pregnant and plebbing and celerbating Christmas and visiting my grandfather and the beach and two weeks can not go fast enough.

However, to get to that I have a few worsts:
Worst #1: Damn pelvis! Keeps shifting and making sleeping, getting out of bed/couch/lifting kids impossible without pain. However, I have an awesome chiro and I'm pretty sure with the regularity I am visiting her I will get a bait to her Christmas party.
Worst #2: Went to the Dr on Monday and he says my BP is raised and he's concerned I've got too much on my plate and that even two more weeks of work might be too much. And said we need to discuss Christmas at the in-laws and if it will be too stressful (potentially ...) so neeed to just sit myself down a bit more often.
Worst #3: I have not bought one.single.Christmas.present. This may be leading to the above #2 because I am adding up how much I am going to have to spent in our foul swoop very soon (rather than being organised and spreading the costs over a period of time) and how that will impact bills etc ... urgh money.
Worst #4: Succession planning. There's a bit family pow-wow on Monday.

Hmm. Re-reading that, perhpas it should not be a surprise me to me that BP is rising ... :/
