Best and worst of the week

It’s the end of another week and time for our weekly look at our high and low points, known around here as Best and Worst of the week.

This post began well over a year ago when Mia decided to try an online version of a tradition that she (and many other families) have around the dinner table where they share the  best and worst bits of their days.

It’s a fantastic way to cut through the grunts or the ‘I dunnos’ that kids throw at you when you ask how their day was.

Asking someone to pinpoint their best and worst moments makes them think. In a good way.

So tell us – what were your best and worst moments of the week? And don’t forget to tell us what else is on your mind.

The Mamamia team will be adding their best & worsts in the comments below.

best - rain pelting down outside the window, sitting in the rocking chair in the soft warm glow of the little winnie the pooh lamp in my baby boy's room, nursing him before putting him down for the night. looking around the room as i often do and feeling so grateful that we have a warm, safe place for our baby to sleep at night while the cold and rain rage outside. thankful that he will go to bed with a full belly.

worst - more than ever before, since i had my baby it breaks my heart that there are so many adults, children and babies just like him who dont have the very basics of survival. to be a parent in that position - desperate and with no food to give your starving child, no shelter to offer from the heat or cold- i cannot even begin to comprehend. the famine in somalia brings tears to my eyes, while we donated it just doesnt feel like enough.
the things we take so easily for granted, clean water from the tap, the food in our cupboards and fridge...would be the difference between life and death in places like somalia. its so hard to comprehend sometimes...

Whoooooooa what a week! I'm only just getting around to this now because of how busy things have been. Right:

Best: Catching up with a friend who I haven't seen in 18 months on Friday night over a few drinks. We're both in Sydney but it's taken us a while to organise a bloody get together!

Worst: Finding myself in agonising pain on Thursday night and having no idea why. Hmmmm, doctor, you say? Yeah, I should probably look into that...
