Mamamia 'Best and Worst' (and ALL the sugar).

By NICKY CHAMP

Welcome to a Mamamia tradition, Best and Worst, where we all sit around the virtual dinner table and debrief about the week that was.

I’ll be your host today so sit yourselves down, grab a cuppa and a scotch finger bickie/ handful of lollies/ activated almonds/kale chips (does anyone have a good recipe for kale chips? Mine always end up charcoal chips).

Best: I have a new concealer and I want to marry it. I know, I know I am a complete loser. BUT you know when you discover something new (and affordable) that makes you feel 200% better about yourself that you just have to share it? Well, that.

I’ve also started doing beauty GIF tutorials, which I promise isn’t nearly as nerdy as it sounds. You can check out my first one here, which also features the super stay 24hr Maybelline concealer I’m obsessed with.

Worst: I’ve been indulging in way too many treats like brownies and giant sugar bowls like the one above (thanks sales team). Oh, and I haven’t exercised in months – a downfall of being a working mother with a FIFO husband.

I was lucky enough to try out Eat Fit Food recently, which was amazing and so convenient. I trialled the X- Celerator meals which were downright delicious and I’m thinking of getting just the dinner meals (dinner is where I usually fall down and eat takeaway or copious amounts of Nutella toast) for the weeks my husband is away.

I’m aware I’m in danger of hijacking this Mamamia Best and Worst post for recipe suggestions but I’d love it if anyone has any quick, easy and healthy dinner ideas they want to share!

This week we showcased some brilliant Smart Solutions that you can use around your loungeroom to make your life a million times easier. You can watch the video here and see the gallery of tips below. Thanks to the all new Kia Rondo.

Total rollercoaster of a week for me.

BEST #1: My amazing husband's amazing family threw me a baby shower ( we're due in 5 weeks) and made such a fuss of me that I am still smiling about it. I have the best in-laws ever!
WORST #1: My mum missed the baby shower. She was flying in to surprise me- we live interstate- but her plane was sent back due to fog. I had no idea, and only found out afterwards.

BEST #2: Found out I will be an aunty again in 7-8 months.
WORST #2: My brother's wife just can't seem to stop competing with me. She decided that the best time to announce her pregnancy was at my baby shower. It's not a one off. Every time there is a special event to celebrate me or my life, she hijacks it. Even my husband's family were annoyed.

BEST #3: Found out my bestie, who I've know for 27 years, will be back in Oz in September. I haven't seen her in nearly 6 years and SO much has happened to both of us! I cried when I read her post on Facebook, I was so happy!
WORST #3: I won't be able to see my bestie when she comes home. I no longer live in our hometown and I will have JUST given birth so I won't be able to fly there- another reason I cried when I found out. I can't expect her to fork out for a side trip to see me, and I don't know if will be able to afford it either. I will probably have to console myself with some long chats over the phone, and some future skyping.

So, all in all, life is good- but some things truly suck and there's nothing I can do about it.

About your brother's wife's announcement at the baby shower.
Maybe she felt as family were gathered together it was a nice time and setting to tell everyone face to face (not by email/ Facebook).
At a friend's baby shower in Feb two other mums to be announced their pregnancies and everyone including the baby shower mama were thrilled and excited by the news. The babies can all play together.
My advice - don't see it as hijacking, don't take it personally. Try to see it as a good thing.

Best: Graduating from my Enrolled Nursing course and getting my uniform for when I start working as a nurse in August. And that it is a week until I go to Thailand for the first time with my boyfriend and it will be our first big holiday away together :)

Worst: Being at work on a Saturday morning with a fair few rude customers when it is such a lovely day outside.
