Best and worst: How was your week?

Hello friends, it’s Friday again – the first Friday of a fresh, sparkly new year, in fact.

So welcome to Mamamia’s first best and worst of 2015.

I’ll tell you the best and worst parts of my week so far, and then it’s over to you guys…

BEST:

Speaking of fresh and sparkly – I got engaged over the break. That’s pretty hard to beat, right? My gentleman friend told me he was spending Christmas overseas and we said our goodbyes, only for him to show up in my hometown the next day, down on bended knee. I was so beyond shocked that I doubt I said anything coherent, let alone ‘yes’ – but now it’s Facebook official, so I guess that means we are getting hitched.

This was pretty much me, all week:

Finally, I have something in common with Sofia Vergara and Jesinta Campbell

WORST:

Are you kidding? I just got engaged, AND it was Christmas. The toughest part of my week has been responding to texts and phone calls from my (very excited) friends, and taking this ring selfie which my colleagues insisted on (It’s harder than it looks, people. And I’m no hand model).

One a more serious note, 2014 was one hell of a roller coaster – for me personally, for Australia, and for the world. So happy new year everyone – and here’s hoping 2015 is a better one for us all.

How has your week been?

Best this week has been getting permission from the doctor to be able to drive again
Worst was my husband being able to sleep through our baby crying at night which resulted in me yelling at him a few hours later when he woke up. Bonus of that though is he felt so bad that he went and bought bubs a play mat that I wanted for him

Best: 7 week old bub has 'slept through' for the last 2 nights!!

worst: Mummy guilt and debilitating resentment towards my husband- partly because he has no daddy guilt but also because his life hasn't really changed much since baby was born. He still pops off and spends quality time with his hobbies which our friends/family encourage him to do so that he doesn't 'burn out' while I'm expected to 'get sleep' and 'cope as best I can'. The double standards blow my mind. It doesn't help that my hobbies are things that aren't very baby friendly.

Worst 2: Got my period! aaaaaaaah. Pissed that one of the perks of breastfeeding has been denied to me- not to mention that it has made bf that much more painful.
