Being gay: born or a choice?

A really interesting conversation on The View this week after a new study comes out to say there are differences in your brain structure, depending on your sexuality. Gay men and straight women have similar structures and so do gay women and straight men. More proof it would seem that one is born gay.
Even the ultra-conservative Elizabeth seems to agree…..

Im not really sure why there is such an emphasis on whether people are born gay or not. For me it doesnt matter, it about acceptance not a justification as to why people are 'ok' or 'not ok'.
For those who will continue to persecute gay people, even if there is conclusive evidence that people are born gay, they will try to find loopholes.
Or worse, some may pigeon hole gay people into the 'disabled' category if it is proved to be genetic.
As our SATC friends said on the Oprah special about Cynthia Nixon's same sex relationship.
"LOVE IS LOVE."
Persecution is based on fear.
Surely there is nothing scary about love????

I wish everyone would just get over the fact that some people are gay, and others are not. I think we can safely say that most people would not choose to be born gay because of the trials they must face in life. So, this information shows that there is some weight to that theory. However, most (not all) Christians believe that to be gay is not a sin, that it is the 'act' of being gay (homosexual sex) that is a sin. So, this information won't do anything to change the reception of gay people in the Church (for the most part), will it really change social views on homosexuality?
