Australia never got to meet Alex Nation’s five-year-old son Elijah during The Bachelor, but he was never far from her thoughts.
It’s likely the 24-year-old Melbourne mum will introduce her little boy to her new man Richie soon (if she hasn’t already) but in the mean time we’ve become acquainted with him through her Instagram.

In February, Alex shared a heartfelt post about parenting and, boy, is it so very relatable.
“Sometimes you are an absolute pain in the bum,” she writes. “You exhaust me and really test my mental processes like nothing else! Some days, as a parent, the challenges out way (sic) the rewards. Some days, I am overwhelmed by my responsibilities as your mum. Some days, I think to myself ‘do I even know what the bloody hell I’m doing!?'” And honestly, some days, I feel the answer is no. But what I do know is, is that I love you beyond measure. It’s unyielding, unconditional and without boundary.”

Alex gave birth to her son when she was 19 and spoke at length about him throughout the show.
He was also probably one of the biggest factors when it came to Richie's final decision.
"Everything I do in life is with you in mind, first and foremost," she adds.
"You are going to make mistakes, you'll disappoint me, make me mad, maybe even make me cry and you know what, I'll do the same to you I'm sure.
"Being a mum isn't always a walk in the park, sometimes it's really flipping hard, but I am so incredibly lucky to even be able to take that walk. And with you."
